Brian Davis is a State Farm insurance agent in Powell, Ohio, helping individuals, families and businesses throughout Powell, Dublin, Lewis Center, Delaware and the Columbus area with auto, homeowners, renters, life and business insurance.

September 🍁 is Life Insurance Awareness Month. Life insurance needs can change as your family, income, and financial responsibilities change. Contact our office to review your options, ask questions, or request a life insurance quote.

At the Brian Davis State Farm office, we help you make great insurance and financial decisions—not simply shop your policies.

I’m especially passionate about helping people build a retirement they can feel good about—creating a plan that brings both security and confidence 🌅 over the long term.

I’ve been a State Farm agent since 2013 and have had the privilege of working closely with individuals and families to navigate important insurance decisions. Outside of the office, family is everything to me. I’ve been married to my wife, Carisa, for 24 years, and I’ve spent many seasons coaching and mentoring young athletes in the community 🥎. Today, I’m proud to watch that continue with my daughters as they compete at the college level 🎓.

I earned my degree in Business Management from Wittenberg University and later completed my ChFC® and CLU® designations. Over the years, our agency has been recognized with honors like SVP Club, Ambassador Life, Silver Scroll, Bronze Tablet, and Top 100 Agent—achievements that reflect our team’s commitment to taking care of our customers the right way.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How much auto liability coverage should I carry in Ohio?

A: Ohio law requires drivers to carry at least $25,000 of bodily injury liability coverage per person, $50,000 per accident and $25,000 of property damage liability coverage. These limits are only the legal minimum and may be exhausted quickly in an accident involving serious injuries, multiple people or an expensive vehicle.

The appropriate limits depend on your income, savings, home value less loan balance, future income, household drivers and other assets you want to protect. Higher limits may also be required before you can purchase personal liability umbrella coverage. Our office can review your current limits and help you compare protection options based on your circumstances and budget.

Q: Should I consider umbrella insurance if I have teenage drivers?

A: Personal liability umbrella coverage is especially worth considering when a teenage driver joins the household. A serious accident could result in injuries or property damage that exceeds the liability limits on your auto insurance.

Umbrella coverage provides an additional layer of liability protection above qualifying auto, homeowners and certain other policies. State Farm personal liability umbrella coverage begins at $1 million for covered claims, although exclusions and policy conditions apply. The appropriate amount depends on your household’s drivers, vehicles, income, assets and other potential liability exposures.

Q: What happens to my car insurance when my child goes away to college?

A: Do not automatically remove your child from your car insurance when they leave for college. Students often remain on their parents’ policy, particularly when they continue to drive family vehicles during weekends, holidays or school breaks.

Q: Does homeowners insurance cover sump pump or sewer backup?

A: Not automatically. A standard homeowners policy generally does not cover water that backs up through a sewer or drain unless Back-Up of Sewer or Drain coverage has been added. Coverage involving a sump pump may depend on how the water entered the home, what caused the loss and the specific terms and endorsements on the policy.

This is also different from damage caused by rising surface water or an overflowing body of water, which is generally considered flooding and typically requires separate flood insurance. Homeowners with finished basements or valuable property below ground should review both the coverage limit and deductible before a loss occurs.

Q: Do I need separate insurance for jewelry or an engagement ring?

A: Possibly. Homeowners and renters insurance generally provide some personal property protection, but jewelry may be subject to special dollar limits and may only be covered for certain causes of loss.

A personal articles policy can insure an engagement ring or other valuable jewelry for a specified amount and may provide broader protection against covered theft, accidental damage or loss. Keep your purchase receipt and a current appraisal to help document the item’s value. Because jewelry values can change, it is also a good idea to review the appraisal and coverage amount periodically.

Q: How do I get an auto insurance quote in Powell, OH?

A: In many cases, coverage can start the same day you decide to move forward. We can help you get set up quickly so you're covered and ready to go. Brian works with Powell residents to find coverage that fits.

Q: What kind of insurance do I need for a leased vehicle?

A: Leased cars typically require liability, comprehensive, and collision coverage, and the leasing company may need to be listed on your policy. Connect with Brian for insurance guidance in Powell.

Q: How would you explain renters insurance?

A: Renters insurance is a simple way to help protect your personal belongings and provide liability coverage while you're renting. Since your landlord's policy typically covers the building itself, this type of coverage is designed to help protect you and the things you own. In Powell, you can count on Brian for personalized service.

Q: How does life insurance work?

A: Life insurance provides a payout to your chosen beneficiaries if you pass away while the policy is active. It can help give your loved ones financial support when they may need it most. For personalized coverage in Powell, OH, reach out to Brian.

Q: Do you need to carry insurance on your home?

A: Whether homeowners insurance is required depends on your situation and may vary by state. If you have home financing, your lender will likely require it. Even if it's not required, many people choose to have coverage to help protect their home and everything that comes with it. Brian is here to help your Powell household feel covered.
